Texas Vs. Ohio Energy Battle

2015 Competition Results: TEXAS WINS!
And we're doing it again in 2016!

The results of the first state-versus-state energy competition are in! During the 2015 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Awards ceremony in April, EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy revealed that in a head-to-head battle between hospitals, Texas beat Ohio with the highest average energy savings per hospital. During the 2015 contest, the average hospital in the Ohio Hospital Association saved 1.09%, while the average hospital in the Texas Association of Healthcare Facilities Management saved 1.53%. Hospitals in both states collectively saved more than $2.6 million and prevented more than 106,700 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions, which is equivalent to providing energy to more than 9,700 homes for a year.

What’s up next for these energy savers? The battle continues! Both Ohio and Texas are teaming up to challenge hospitals in all states in The Great Hospital Energy Challenge through the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE). Recruit your state team today (10 hospitals minimum) and tell ASHE you want to take on all challengers! For more information, see www.energytocare.com/challenges.
