Education

This basic competency course is an in-service training and includes an exam. This course is excellent for designers, installers, code compliance officers and anyone seeking a basic understanding of firestopping. This course is non-proprietary to specific brands and will teach the UL System approach as well as product and system management.

Learning Objectives

• To learn the requirements of compliance and be able to choose firestop systems and products to achieve that compliance.
• To understand compartmentation and the role of through penetrations in barriers.
• Understanding of the UL System approach to managing the firestop process and identify the components of a firestop system.
• To identify various firestop products and their properties.
• Recognize the requirements and correct use of products and materials for building design or renovation.
